If you love music and are searching for something new we quietly and humbly offer our songs to listen to.

Making music together is a big privilege. We consider ourselves fortunate. Our long friendship began with a mutual curiosity and interest in each other's musical efforts. Our songwriting is now bearing fruit and we have brought life experience and music making skills to our work and we have done so with love, care, craft and attention. Now we are excited to share what we have made. We hope you listen carefully and that the music will resonate honestly somewhere deep inside you.

We are looking forward to making new friends and adventures so please don't be shy, reach out, let us know what you think and say hello

(email, facebook and instagram are reliable ways to connect).

    Shane Young

    lyrics, melodies, harmonies, vocals, drums

As a drummer, Shane has made records with Ray Shulman, Nick Lowe, Stephen Street and Ian Broudie, as well as playing on albums by The Christians and Mansun and touring with the likes of Jools Holland, Squeeze and Del Amitri. Having toured the UK, France and the US, these days he's staying relatively still, teaching drums and photography, and writing his third novel. The Powdered Earth has created space for Shane to step out of his comfort zone, debuting as a singer and lyricist.

    George Moorey

George’s past work focuses on studio recording, collaborations and community music projects. His portfolio includes several albums, national lottery funded projects, library music, recordings of local artists and music production for an online recording service.
